Floor & Wall Tiling

Now that the cabinetry is installed, floor* and wall tiling will be laid to the rooms designated on your building plans. All shower areas will be waterproofed in accordance with the building codes.

Note: You may notice a gap between the tiles and bench tops and corner of showers. This gap will be filled with a silicon seal towards the end of construction.

*Please note that if included in your contract, floor tiling to living areas will be completed at the floor covering stage of construction.

Most Frequently Asked Questions at FLOOR & WALL TILING stage

  1. My house has reached tiling stage, what happens next?
    • Shower screens & mirrors are installed
    • The plumber installs the taps, toilets and fittings
    • The electrician will install the light points, switches and power points
    • The garage concrete floor gets poured
    • The brickpaver will install your paving
    • The insulation will be installed
    • The painter will do his final and gloss coat and finish any touch ups
    • The house and site will have all excess building materials removed
    • The house will have a builders clean
    • The flyscreens will be installed
    • You will be notified when you are required to inspect your new home with your Supervisor
  2. Why is there a gap between my wall and floor tiles and between bench tops and tiles?
    • This gap is left as a control joint and will be silicon sealed at a later stage
  3. When can I arrange landscaping and fencing?
    • This is a good time to make contact with either your developer or whoever is arranging your fencing and landscaping. Although you cannot commence these works during construction, a handy hint is to start arranging now! See the “Welcome to Construction” section for their contact details.
  4. Can I keep any leftover paint?
    • Your painter will leave any excess paint tins in your pantry. These are complimentary and it is advisable to keep these for maintenance and in case paint colours need to be matched in the future.
  5. How do I arrange my crossover?
    • The land between your boundary and street kerb is council owned land and it is the responsibility of the land owner to comply with the crossover requirements. We recommend you contact your local council in relation to the crossover requirements.
  6. When is my house going to be finished?
    Your contract allows 12 – 18 months from the start of construction however it is within all our interests to be completed as soon as possible. From Lock Up stage to handover on average we would estimate anywhere from 10-12 weeks. Please refer to Tracking Stage # 17 House Lock Up to view your progress lock up date. Note: this date refers to the week of stage completion.
